Enzo Fernandez rookie cards are starting to hit the market. One of the more exciting soccer rookies from 2022/23, he led Argentina to the World Cup, and was named as the young player of the tournament. 

It’s been a hectic year for Enzo Fernandez. He started 2022 with River Plate in his home country, signing for Benfica in the summer. 

A successful World Cup led to a winter transfer worth £106.8 million as he joined Chelsea in an astounding move, and the midfielder has settled into life at Stamford Bridge so far.

5. 2022 Panini Instant FIFA World Cup Enzo Fernandez RC #135 (eBay)

If you’re on the lookout for an international-themed card, the 2022 Panini Instant FIFA World Cup set should be on your radar. Fernandez is included twice in the collection, which is a print-to-order base card that was made available via the Panini website. A print run of 2,543 means it’s not hard to locate, and it’s reasonably cheap. It features a simple shot of Fernandez in the blue and white stripes of Argentina, and notes he was the ‘Best Young Player Winner’ at the 2022 World Cup.

4. 2022-23 Topps Deco UEFA Enzo Fernandez Prodigy RC (eBay)

The 2022-23 Topps Deco UEFA collection is one of the more popular options overall due to the stylish designs, and Fernandez is included in the Prodigy subset. As well as base copies, there are a further six numbered parallels to look out for. It features a close-up shot of Fernandez while playing for Benfica.

3. 2020-2021 Panini Argentina Enzo Fernandez RC #167 (eBay)

Fernandez’s true rookie is found in Panini Fútbol Argentino 2021, which is the official sticker collection of the Argentinian Primera Division. The player was contracted with River Plate at the time, but was on loan to Defensa y Justicia, where he won the Recopa Sudamericana.

One issue is the sticker’s origin, as it’s tough to locate. After all, it’s a local product from South America, and it’s a flimsy sticker. We’d recommend sticking with graded versions once they begin to make their way onto the market.

2. 2022 Enzo Fernandez Topps Now RC #74 (eBay)

2022-23 Topps Now UEFA Champions League is a weekly release with print-to-order products focusing on the European tournament. The “Record-Breaking Youngster Joins Chelsea” card is self-explanatory, featuring an image of Fernandez in a Chelsea shirt after completing his deal. 

Interestingly, there are versions both with and without the RC logo. Topps made a mistake with the printing, and shipped off a second batch with the logo attached. I’d expect both to share the same print run, which was 3,465.

As for more valuable versions, there are a trio of parallels, including the Black edition which can be seen above.

1. 2022-23 Topps Total Football Enzo Fernandez RC #CC423 (eBay)

Fernandez has a number of rookie cards found in the Topps Total Football set. Rather than focusing on the cards used to play the game, we’re looking at the Collector Cards subset. This features the 2022 World Cup winner during his brief stint with SL Benfica. 

The RC logo is the main reason for higher prices than the norm, and I’m hoping to grab a copy myself in the next month or so. You’ll be able to find numbered parallels, while the first 100 cards printed will have a 1st Edition logo found above the RC logo. (This can be seen above.)

What about the 2022 Prizm World Cup set?

Only 12 Argentina players made the cut for the 2022 Panini Prizm World Cup collection, and Fernandez was left out. It’s a shame considering he was a standout player in the 2022 tournament. Of course, the 2022 Panini Instant FIFA World Cup set also has an Argentina card featuring Enzo.

Enzo Fernandez Rookie Cards: Final Thoughts 

Enzo hasn’t looked out of place so far in the Chelsea midfield, even if the team has struggled to gel in the months following his arrival. Having signed for a British transfer record fee, there’s going to be a lot of attention paid to his progress. It’s worth remembering that only a year ago, he was on loan in Argentina, and he’s still only 22. 

On the other hand, it’s worth mentioning that I’m slightly biased, as a fan of the Blues myself. In any case, any of the earliest Enzo Fernandez rookie cards look to be a solid option to hold onto in the meantime.
