Let’s take the opportunity to discuss the best Erling Haaland rookie cards.

Anyone with a passing interest in football is likely to have an inkling of what Erling Haaland is all about.

The Norway striker is one of the hottest commodities in the sport. He had been linked with virtually every major European club since making his debut for Borussia Dortmund in January 2020. Eventually, he joined Man City in the summer of 2022/23.

Erling Haaland Bundesliga Stats:

2020-21: 28 games, 27 goals

2019-20: 15 games,  13 goals

You’ll see some incredible prices for his earliest collectibles, but they have to be seen as one of the optimal picks from an investment point of view.

Here are some of the best Erling Haaland rookie cards that are available right now. We’ve included lots of extra info about why he’s such a special prospect.

The Best Erling Haaland Cards

Since forcing his way into the limelight, Haaland has been the focal point of various Topps sets over the past three seasons. Without further delay, here are five of his top RCs.

5. 2020 Topps Transcendent Erling Haaland RC #EH (eBay)

Erling Haaland Topps PSA graded football card

The only card from last year to make the list is a definite head-turner.

The 2020 Topps Transcendent set contains a signed Haaland RC which is numbered to just 75 copies.

Billed as “the ultimate BVB fan experience,” 2020 Topps Transcendent BVB Borussia Dortmund offered the chance to meet the team for several lucky winners

It meant there were only 100 boxes produced, while it was originally priced at a wallet-busting price of €1,500.

The Haaland auto also has black (/24) and yellow (1/1) parallels to match the colours of the BVB home kit.

It might not be as valuable as the cards below, but there’s serious potential for profit depending on the price point.

4. 2019 Topps Museum Collection Bundesliga Erling Haaland RC #MAREH (eBay

Topps’ 2019 Museum Collection Bundesliga features another coveted collectible in the form of a rookie patch which is signed by the player.

The set is almost identical to the 2019-20 Museum UEFA Champions League release, with coloured corner plates that change depending on the parallel.

Once again, the addition of a serial number raises the value, and it offers something a little different compared to the others on the list.

Any of the Haaland cards from the set currently sell for large amounts, especially if they’ve been graded by the likes of PSA or BGS

3. 2019 Topps Chrome UCL Erling Haaland RC #74 (eBay)

The 2019 Topps Chrome UCL set has the obligatory set of refractor parallels. This complements a great full-bleed design that features an action shot of the player in his first ever Bundesliga season.

He scored a 23 minute hat-trick on his debut, coming off the bench with Dortmund 3-1 down as they went on to beat Augsburg 5-3.

There’s also an autographed edition to watch out for, while the online-exclusive UCL Sapphire Edition adds an RC logo not seen in the main release.

Even the base card is viable if you’re looking for a cheaper graded option.

Topps Chrome Bundesliga UCL Base Parallels: Base Refractor (1:3), Purple #/250 (1:14), Blue Bubbles (1:17), Purple Carbon Fiber (1:19) Blue #/150 (1:22), Green Bubbles (1:33), Green #/99 (1:34), Blue Wave #/75 (1:44), Gold #/50 (1:66), Gold Bubbles (1:132), Orange #/25 (1:131), Red #/10 (1:328), Red Wave #/10 (1:328), Red Carbon Fiber (1:657), SuperFractor 1/1 (1:3,227).

2. 2019 Topps Finest Erling Haaland RC #91 (eBay)

Haaland’s 2019 Topps Finest RC only just misses out on the top spot.

There are a couple of obvious tells if you’re aiming to understand why it’s so valuable compared to flashier options.

Firstly, ‘The Terminator’ is featured in a FC Salzburg kit rather than the black and yellow of Dortmund, and it lists his full name on the front.

Refractor parallels are immensely popular, with the following available;

Blue #/150, Green #/99, Gold #/50, Orange #/25, Red #/5, SuperFractor 1/1

Along with his rookie sticker from the 2019-20 Panini Austrian Bundesliga Fussball set, the Salzburg options are sure to go up in value in the long run.

*The Haaland auto from the set features the player in his Borussia Dortmund kit, using a new image and an updated surname.

1. 2019 Topps Chrome Erling Haaland RC #72 (eBay)

There’s one collectible which stands head and shoulders above the rest, and that’s Haaland’s 2019-20 Topps Chrome Bundesliga RC.

The autograph is enough to make hobbyists pay attention. That’s without accounting for the various parallels which correspond with the border colour.

  • (Green #/99, Gold #/50, Orange #/25, Red #/10, SuperFractor 1/1)

In fact, it’s the first ever chromium Erling Haaland BVB rookie card. It has to be on the agenda for any serious investor.

Unfortunately, graded versions are already out of reach for the average collector. (Especially gem mint versions which currently retail in the five-figure range.)

It’s one for high rollers, but they’re banking on the value going up exponentially in the long-term.

Erling Haaland Cards: Buyers Guide

Haaland has been the focus of a variety of Topps sets over the past few years, as they lean on his star power thanks to their exclusive deal with Dortmund

However, the market is somewhat oversaturated, especially if you’re looking at cards produced during the 2020/21 season.

Meanwhile, he missed out on Euro 2020 as Norway failed to qualify, so there aren’t many decent international options so far. We’d stick with his RCs if your budget can take it. He’s clearly a phenom that has lived up to the hype so far.

Whatever the case, PSA and BGS cards are the way to go. They have the greatest potential to provide a decent ROI in the future.

If you’re looking at the best cheap Haaland cards, a personal favourite is located within the 2020 Topps BVB set. PSA 9 copies that are still fairly affordable at the current time of writing.

Otherwise, we’d look to numbered parallels with a great action shot of the player.

Any of his signed RCs are going to command big fees if he ends his career with 300+ goals. If money is no issue, they’re likely to be where the most profit will be found in the future.

A more affordable alternative would be his rookie sticker, or the 2019 Topps Finest which also shows off the player in an FC Salzburg kit.

Final Thoughts

The risk/reward ratio is insanely high with Haaland. He still has over a decade remaining at the top of the sport if all goes to plan.

Current card prices reflect the confidence shown in his goal scoring abilities, and he’s likely to break records no matter where he ends up.

That’s if he manages to avoid injuries, as pace and power are undeniably a massive part of his game.

Any collector would be happy to find a Haaland auto in their hobby box. We’d advise you to hold onto any rare cards if you have faith that he’ll keep putting them away with ease. (Send off any autos to be graded ASAP!)

Along with Kylian Mbappe, Haaland truly has the potential to be the future of football. We’d keep a close eye on his progress.
