One of the bigger hits from recent sets, Jordan Lawlar rookie cards are actually yet to be released as of December 2022. Instead, we’ll be looking at some of his best prospect cards. 

A top prospect, Jordan Lawlar is a 5 tool shortstop (hitting for average, hitting for power, defense, sprint speed, and throwing arm). This season, he has a great chance of playing for the Diamondbacks, after recovering from a broken left scapula that cut his time in the AFL short.

The 2022 Topps NSCC Bowman Chrome National Convention collection was offered as a special promotional set to fans who turned up to a 2022 NSCC event in Atlantic City.

Lawlar has a duo of cards in the set, with a base version, and the auto seen above. Parallels are limited, and it’s identifiable thanks to an NSCC stamp located underneath the stickered signature.

4. 2022 Bowman Sterling Jordan Lawlar #JL (eBay)

Next up is 2022 Bowman Sterling Baseball. The set is split between 50 rookies and 50 prospects, with a number of Lawlar signatures found inside. These include dual autos and triple autos, but we’re sticking with the Prospect Autographs subset, with an example seen in the image above. It’s significantly more affordable than the 2021 Bowman Draft cards seen below.

3. 2021 Bowman Draft Chrome Jordan Lawlar #BDC194 (eBay)

2021 Bowman Draft Baseball is where you’ll find a variety of interesting Lawlar prospect cards. We’ll start with the base set. You’ll find Paper and Chrome versions for each card, and there’s a “1st Bowman” logo in the top left corner.

The unsigned Chrome Refractor parallels are worth a fair amount, even if it’s a cheaper option than the signed card seen below.

2. 2021 Bowman Draft Sapphire Edition Jordan Lawlar #JLW (eBay)

2021 Bowman Draft Sapphire Edition Baseball is a special version of the 2021 Bowman Draft Baseball set. Sapphire Editions are always popular, so much so that this set didn’t make it to public sale. 

It uses the same image as the Lawlar prospect card seen above, with a variety of different parallels to chase. However, there are no signatures contained within the Sapphire set.

1. 2021 Bowman Draft Jordan Lawlar #CDAJLA (eBay)

2021 Bowman Draft Baseball is still a clear winner in terms of values and prestige. The Chrome Prospect Autograph subset is one of the most popular within the hobby, and the best place to look for top early autos. (Especially as there aren’t any to be found in Sapphire Edition boxes.)

Expect to pay four figures for pristine, graded versions of the Lawlar signature seen above.

Are Jordan Lawlar Rookie Cards Worth The Hype?

At the current time of writing, Lawlar has yet to make an appearance in the majors. Regardless, his most valuable prospect cards are easily selling for four figures, and show no signs of letting up. The hype is mainly due to his status as a 5 tool shortstop, as well as comparisons to Bobby Witt Jr. 

Everyone wants to be ahead of the game, and some buyers are keen to invest due to the potential for profit in the future. It’s difficult to say if his prospect cards are worth the hype as of now. 

Jordan Lawlar Rookie Cards: Final Thoughts 

Jordan Lawlar rookie cards are some of the more exciting options from recent baseball sets, but you’ll have to pay a premium to add the best copies to your collection. Hype is likely to build until he makes his Diamondbacks debut. He might have suffered from a few injury setbacks, but it’s nothing that should have an impact on his ceiling.
