Looking for a Topps UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 review? The entry-level soccer release is available via the Topps website. Here are our thoughts about the debut collection.

A new release for 2023, we picked up a box of UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 to write a quick review of the collection. Topps says:

“Superstars is a brand new football trading card collection for 2023, featuring the best UEFA Club Competition players. There is a 200-card base set featuring 16 variations of each player, including Chrome cards, image variations and exclusives.”

It goes on;

“With incredible insert cards such as ‘Final Boss’, ‘Elite Focus’, ‘UCL Royalty’ and ‘Catorce’ plus all-new cards of January transfers including Cody Gakpo, Enzo Fernández and João Cancelo, this collection is full of chase cards. There are also two types of autograph cards to find, including “München 1993 Edition” on the 30th anniversary of the first ever UEFA Champions League final. And exclusive to lucky Value Boxes are Superstar Relic Cards, plus ultra-rare 1/1 Superstar Autograph Relic parallel cards!”

Here are the best cards, what to expect, and who to collect from the UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 set.

UEFA Football Superstars 22/23: What to expect:

There’s a collection of 200 tiered cards, offering base, common, rare, and further variations. For example, check out the Alejandro Garnacho cards seen above. None are numbered, but there are serial numbered versions to collect. We’ve included a base checklist in a further section.

There are a few parallels per pack, with exactly one serial numbered card found in our hobby box. Final Boss cards give cards a retro look, while other inserts include UCL Royalty (1:24 packs) and the short-printed Catorce (1:288 packs).

The Best UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 Cards

We selected the best UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 cards based on the following criteria:

  • Values: We’ve factored in for some of the most valuable UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 cards on the market
  • Rarity: Rarity will always have a role to play in terms of interest and pricing
  • Popularity and branding: How popular is the brand, or the set itself?
  • Rookie cards: RCs are always going to sell for a premium, as the first ever cards to feature a footballer
  • Potential ROI: Arguably most important, can you expect a decent potential ROI if it’s a long-term hold?

UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 Autos (eBay)

Pretty much anything featuring the likes of Erling Haaland is sure to be a major hit, while there’s also a Robert Lewandowski auto in the red and blue stripes of Barcelona. There are player worn patch autos, as well as the aesthetically pleasing München 1993 Edition signatures to look out for in boxes.

We’d strongly recommend looking online if you’re desperate to pack an auto. Topps hasn’t put up any odds, and the same goes for the numbered parallels within the set. Chrome autos are available in the following parallels:

  • Gold #/50, Orange #/25, Blue #/10, Red Wave #/5, SuperFractor 1/1

UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 Parallels (eBay)

Numbered parallels are likely to be some of the bigger hits on offer. There’s a decent rookie class that includes the likes of Julian Alvarez, so there are a number of valuable parallels contained within boxes. Alejandro Garnacho is another example of a highly rated player that comes with an RC logo.

  • Parallels: Mystic (Hanger), Fire & Ice (Value), Common Yellow (2:1), Uncommon Green (1:2), Rare (1:6), Molten Rare (1:12), Super Rare Mint #/199, Ultra Rare Purple #/99, Golden #/50, Seismic Orange #/25
  • Chrome Refractor Parallels: Iconic Blue #/10, Legendary Red Wave #/5, Sheer Perfection SuperFractor 1/1

UEFA Football Superstars 22/23 Review: Final Thoughts

I can’t really recommend the Superstars set, given that it was released in such close proximity to the UCC Flagship collection. Both are budget options, but I’d advise to rip the latter if you’re hoping for the best value for money.
