The Color Blast Insert set is arguably the most popular new release in modern years, spreading to almost every sport imaginable while featuring some of the biggest stars doing what they do best.

Soccer is no exception, with a duo of sets containing different versions of the inserts.   

We’ve put together a rundown featuring five of the best Color Blast soccer cards, along with full checklists and investment advice. 

The Best Color Blast Soccer Cards 

There are White and Black Color Blast cards, and both are included in the list below. 

2020-21 Panini Obsidian Soccer contains Black versions, and 2019-20 Prizm Premier League sets feature White cards focusing on the top flight in England. 

5. 2020 Panini Obsidian Black Color Blast Kylian Mbappe #4 (eBay)

Kylian Mbappe is arguably the most potent striker in world football today, and looks set to join Real Madrid in the 2022 summer transfer window. The World Cup winner has a clear chance of becoming France’s all-time top scorer, and his cards have long been seen as a great investment option. 

Mbappe’s Black Color Blast (now named “Colorblast” by Panini) is first to make the list, featuring the player mid-dribble in a PSG kit.  

He’s going to score goals wherever he goes, so this is a card we’d definitely keep an eye on. 

4. 2020 Panini Obsidian Black Color Blast Lionel Messi #1 (eBay) 

The magisterial Lionel Messi is next up, included in the familiar red and blue stripes of Barcelona. 

The Black Color Blast Insert set was released at a rate of just one per case, while there were only 10 players to choose from.

Featuring a GOAT contender at his favoured club, it’s another valuable option if you’re looking at PSA 10 copies. Expect to pay at least $4,000, but that could turn out to be a good price by the time he retires. 

3. 2019-20 Prizm Premier League Heung-Min Son #26 (eBay)

It’s not often that a Tottenham player makes a list of valuable cards, but we’ll make an exception for Heung Min Son. The sole card from the 2019-20 Prizm Premier League collection to make the grade, it’s not out of place in terms of value or popularity.  

The Prizm Premier League Color Blast cards were released at a rate of just 1:8 cases, so it’s hyper-rare, even if there’s no serial number to accompany the crisp image of the South Korea international. 

2. 2020 Panini Obsidian Black Color Blast Cristiano Ronaldo #5 (eBay)

He might be having a poor season with Manchester United, but that hasn’t stopped this Cristiano Ronaldo Color Blast card from attracting major attention whenever a pristine copy comes up at auction. 

Ronaldo is pictured in a Juventus strip, following three successful seasons in which he scored 100 goals in all competitions on his 131st appearance, becoming the fastest Juventus player to achieve the feat. He’s better known for his time in Spain and England, but it’s still a great card that would compliment any collection. 

1. 2020 Panini Obsidian Black Color Blast Erling Haaland #3 (eBay)

Erling Haaland is the biggest star in world football, bar none. The striker is tearing up the Bundesliga with Dortmund, causing everyone from Chelsea to Real Madrid to take notice. 

He’s still only 21, which is why his first ever Color Blast card easily takes the top spot on our list. 

Despite a few injury issues, he’s one of the best soccer cards to buy right now, and has the potential to break numerous records over the next 15 years. 

Haaland cards have to be seen as a no-brainer investment.

The Best Cheap Color Blast Soccer Cards 

Look to one of the smaller Premier League teams, or ungraded versions if you’re hoping to pick up a cheaper option or two. For example, we like the look of the Kai Havertz card, especially after he won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021.  

The Best Color Blast Soccer Investment Card

It has to be Haaland. 

The striker has such a high ceiling, and there’s no telling where he’ll end up in a season or two. He would compliment any squad in world football, offering a unique mix of pace and power. 

With that being said, anyone from Son to Mbappe looks to be a solid investment option, and the same goes for the GOAT duo of Ronaldo and Messi. 

Color Blast Soccer Cards: Buying/Selling Advice

Color Blast cards are more than a passing fad. 

For one, these are the first sets to feature some of the best players in the world, along with the next generation of soccer stars. 

Secondly, they’re hyper-rare, and they attract endless bids when a copy comes up at auction. 

Lastly, the unique design has been well received by most collectors, and they’re happy to pay a premium price to add graded copies to their collection. 

We can’t think of a more exciting Insert set in recent years, and we think that’ll be reflected in their values in the long-term.
