What are the best Heung-Min Son cards?

Tottenham star Heung-Min Son is one of the most popular players in the Premier League, and a national icon for South Korea.

Despite suffering from a trophy drought at Spurs along with the likes of Harry Kane, he’s undeniably one of the more talented players in the sport, and deadly in front of goal.

Here’s a rundown with five of the best Heung-Min Son cards ever created, along with investment tips if you’re tempted to add the player to your personal collection.

The Best Heung-Min Son Cards

Given his popularity amongst the majority of fans, Son has been included in the majority of sets since making his move to Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015. We’ve narrowed it down to five of the best overall.

5. 2019-20 Panini Prizm Soccer Heung-Min Son #199 (eBay)

2019-20 Panini Prizm Soccer Heung-Min Son #199

The first card is found in the 2019-20 Panini Prizm Premier League collection.

It was the first ever Panini EPL release as Topps owned the Premier League trading card licence for years.

Panini took full advantage, with a 300-card base set which featured top players from each club. Son is one such example, with a range of coloured Prizm parallels being the main draw.

Prizm Parallels: Silver, Green Wave, Hyper, Multicolor, Red/White/Blue (Fat), Blue #/199, Red #/149, Red Mosaic #/109 (Blaster), Purple #/99, Blue Ice #/75, Orange #/25, White Sparkle #/15 (Rewards), Gold #/10, Blue Shimmer FOTL #/8, Gold Power #/5, Black 1/1.

Breakaway Prizm Parallels: Prizm, Violet #/75, Teal #/35, Bronze #/20, Gold #/10, Lime Green #/5, Black 1/1

4. 2018 Panini Prizm World Cup Heung-Min Son RC #187 (eBay)

South Korea earned their only points of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in injury time against Germany to send them home too.

Son notched two in the group stages, and was easily their standout player throughout the tournament.

Once again, Prizm parallels are the most valuable options, especially if they’re one of the rarer numbered versions. (they correspond with the border colour.)

The player is shown in his South Korea kit, with a grimace of determination on his face.

Prizm Parallels: Silver, Hyper, Lazer, Mojo, Red Mosaic, Black/Gold Wave, Green/Orange Wave, Red/Blue Wave, Blue #/199, Red #/149, Light Blue Lazer #/125, Purple #/99, Orange #/65, Pink Lazer #/40, Green Crystals #/25, Camo #/20, Gold Lazer #/15, Gold #/10, Pink #/8 (NSCC), Gold Power #/5, Blue Shimmer #/5 (FOTL), Black 1/1. VARIATIONS: Cyrillic Text.

3. 2020-21 Prizm Premier League Color Blast Heung-Min Son #27 (eBay)

The Color Blast insert is a popular addition to 2020/21 Prizm Premier League sets. It features a unique design which seems to be universally appreciated by collectors who appreciate the finer things.

Son is one of 30 players included as a hyper-rare addition. This is going to be expensive whether or not it’s graded.

A Premier League collection, Son is featured in the white and blue of Tottenham. We think this card has great potential in the future, especially if he decides to become a club legend in London.

2. 2021-22 Panini Donruss Kaboom! Heung-Min Son #12 (eBay)

It’s tough to mention one without the other. Some players are lucky enough to be included in both Color Blast and Kaboom! subsets, and Son is one such example.

2021-22 Donruss Soccer Road to Qatar is a preview for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Kaboom! subset falls one per Hobby case, using an eye-catching comic style.

One clear benefit is that he’s depicted in the red of South Korea, as one of just 20 players expected to star in the upcoming tournament.

1. 2018 Panini Prizm World Cup National Landmarks Heung-Min Son #21 (eBay)

Sticking with the international theme, the 2018 Panini Prizm World Cup set features an insert dedicated to the star of South Korean football.

This illustrated card has lots of Korean imagery in the background, from famous locations to national symbols such as the Siberian tiger

Given the increased rarity, the Color Blast insert is currently more expensive. We personally prefer the National Landmarks card in terms of aesthetic appeal. It’s our pick as the best Heung-Min Son option overall, especially if it’s a PSA 10 copy.

Heung-Min Son Cards: Buyers Guide

We’ve put together a buyer’s guide if you’re tempted to add a Son card to your collection.

The base 2018 World Cup card is attainable with most budgets, even if you’re looking at graded versions.

It’s also his tournament rookie card, which is always important for collectors interested in world football. It’s hard to do much better, unless you begin to look at rookie stickers from his Bundesliga days.

We like the look of any of the trio of inserts that complete our list, especially if they’re wrapped in a graded slab.

Given the popularity and the current sale prices, it’s hard to go against the majority view – which seems to be that the Color Blast insert is the one to collect if possible. (Of course, even ungraded copies now sell for over $1,200.)

Heung-Min Son Cards: Buying/Selling Advice

Heung-Min Son is always going to be a legend. He’s one of those players that everyone seems to like, no matter their club affiliation.

Much depends on his next move, if any. The player would complement the majority of teams in the top five leagues. He could easily win silverware in the likes of Germany or France.

‘Sonaldo’ is also in his prime, and could end his time as a Spurs legend, unlike current captain Harry Kane who is still eager to leave. Whether it be trophies or a legacy with Spurs, we expect his cards to be a solid long-term investment over the next decade or so.

In terms of when to buy soccer cards, we’d grab what you can before the run up to the 2022 World Cup begins in earnest.

Heung-Min Son official rookie cards are exceptionally popular, as one of the more famous players in the sport. He has a compelling story, and his football cards are reasonably expensive.

It won’t match up to the likes of Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, and Mickey Mantle, but Heung-Min Son has various valuable collectibles and some of the hottest cards in the hobby.
