Fernando Alonso holds multiple F1 records, including the most starts, and the most polesitters in one year. One of the more recognizable racers of all time, we’ve taken the opportunity to list three of the best Fernando Alonso cards you’ll find on the market.
Fernando Alonso is a two-time World Champion who is still capable of a podium finish in 2023. The Aston Martin driver is gunning for a third win, and it doesn’t seem like retirement is on the horizon anytime soon.
He returned to F1 in 2021, initially agreeing to a two-year deal to rejoin Renault for a third stint. Here’s a rundown with a trio of the best Fernando Alonso cards available on the market right now.
Top Fernando Alonso Cards
The best card is fairly subjective, so here’s the criteria we used to come up with this list:
- Values: We’ve factored in for some of the most valuable Fernando Alonso cards and autos on the market
- Rarity: Rarity will always have a role to play in terms of interest and pricing
- Popularity and branding: How popular is the brand, or the set itself?
- Rookie cards: RCs are always going to sell for a premium, as the first ever cards to feature a racer
- Potential ROI: Arguably most important, can you expect a decent potential ROI if it’s a long-term hold?
3. 2021 Topps Dynasty Formula 1 Fernando Alonso #DAP-FAI
As the name implies, 2021 Topps Dynasty Formula 1 is a high-end collection. There’s a long list of valuable patches and autographs found within the set, each with a low print run that leads to eye watering prices.
For example, a similar card to the patch auto seen above numbered to 10 copies sold for $760 in August 2023. Pristine graded copies could easily begin to creep into the four figure range.

2. 2021 Topps Chrome F1 Sapphire Fernando Alonso #38
The base 2021 Topps Chrome F1 set is a popular collection, but the Sapphire release ups the ante significantly. While the cards aren’t signed, Sapphire versions are some of the more valuable options overall. Sapphire cards are easily identifiable thanks to a unique Cracked Ice background.
As well as the #38 seen above, the #9 card is another popular option showing the driver in a posed image.

1. 2021 Topps Chrome F1 Fernando Alonso Auto #CAFA
The Fernando Alonso auto found in the base 2021 Topps Chrome collection offers a perfect mix of rarity and prestige. It is a stickered auto, but the racer doesn’t have many licensed signatures to choose from.
As with the cards above, there are also numbered parallels to chase, increasing in value depending on the overall rarity. If you don’t like the look of the Topps Dynasty set, this Fernando Alonso auto is going to be one of the best high-end alternatives.

Are Fernando Alonso cards worth collecting in 2023?
As a two-time World Champion who is still racing at the age of 42, it’s easy to forget that Alonso has already come back from retirement once. When asked about walking away from the sport a second time, he said;
“I would love to know the answer as well. When I started in F1, my idea was to be there for seven or eight years. Then I won the two championships, and I thought – I will race maybe one or two more years.
“Now I find myself with the longest career ever in F1, and I’m still fresh, still motivated, still enjoying every single day. So yeah, there’s a few more years for me, and hopefully with a title contender in the future.”
In other words, his cards are clearly worth collecting for F1 fans, even if his chances for a third Championship are slim at best.
Fernando Alonso Cards: Final Thoughts
Alonso isn’t just there to make up the numbers. He wants to win;
“[A third world title] is the aim for sure, but I think at the moment we have to keep our feet on the ground. The aim for the team is just to have a good season. They struggled a lot in 2022, so I think we have to – let’s say – walk before we run.
“I think this 2023 campaign is about getting better, getting to know the car better, starting a new project from day one, and that’s where we are at the moment. Hopefully we have more podiums, hopefully we fight for race wins, but I think to fight for the championship we need to set the team a little bit.”
Whatever the case in 2023 and beyond, there’s no denying that Alonso is one of the more respected drivers within the sport. His cards are highly collectible, and that’s reflected in the high asking prices for the rarest copies.
