The Best 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UEFA Champions League Cards

We’ve put together a list with 10 of the best cards you’ll find in the 2019-20 Topps Museum UEFA Champions League sets.

10. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Lionel Messi #1 (eBay)

2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Lionel Messi #1

Lionel Messi is the player who was selected to be first in the base set, and he also takes the initial spot on our list.

It feels pointless to list his many achievements, but the forward has won the Ballon d’Or award a record seven times, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo with five.

A card which should suit almost every budget, Messi is pictured in the red and blue of Barcelona in a simple action shot. It’s still highly collectible, especially as he moved to PSG in the summer of 2021.

Parallels: Copper #/99, Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

9. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Giovanni Reyna RC #38 (eBay)

The son of former pro Claudio Reyna, Giovanni Reyna made his Bundesliga debut for Borussia Dortmund in January 2020.

He became the youngest player to make 50 Bundesliga appearances as he cemented his place in the first XI, as well as making his debut for the United States in the process.

It’s easy to see why his rookie cards are always in demand, considering the large number of US fans who also happen to be card collectors. The base card uses a framed design, and features Reyna in the yellow and black of Dortmund.

Parallels: Copper #/99, Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

8. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Framed Auto Cristiano Ronaldo #AMFA-CR (eBay)

Featuring Cristiano Ronaldo while he still played for Juventus, the Framed Autographs set aims to up the ante with the addition of a thin gold borderline. It fits with the theme of the set, even if it will flake and damage if you’re not especially careful.

As with any Ronaldo auto, it’s likely to hold significant value in the long-term. The stickered signature could be improved with an on-card version, but it’s still highly desirable.

Parallels: Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

7. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Archival Auto Mason Mount RC #AA-MM (eBay)

Mason Mount won the UCL with Chelsea in 2020/21, so a rookie auto featuring the player in his familiar blue kit is sure to go for big bucks in future.

At the age of 23, you’ll also be banking on the England star earning more significant silverware in the future, ideally starting with the Premier League.

A phenomenal talent, it’s easy to recommend keeping tabs on high-end Mount RCs.

Parallels: Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

6. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Archival Auto Lionel Messi #AALM (eBay)

Back to Lionel Messi, and the Archival Autograph subset that contains 32 serial numbered cards featuring the best players in Europe. (Essentially, the subset is similar to the design of the base cards, with the addition of a stickered auto.)

Messi was always going to make the grade, although the Argentina star has a strange expression on his face in the action shot. There are four parallels in total, given a theme of precious gems.

Parallels: Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

5. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Momentous Material Mason Mount RC #AJR-MM (eBay)

Mason Mount makes another appearance on the list. This time for a premium rookie patch auto released as part of the Momentous Material subset.

The addition of a large patch and a prominent auto make for a desirable combo. It’s a step up from other options from the Museum Collection. If you think he could achieve future success for Chelsea and England, it’s arguably the best Premier League option from the set if you’re looking at the rarest parallels.

Parallels: Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

4. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Erling Haaland RC #12 (eBay)

Erling Haaland makes his debut on the list, with a base card that shows off the sheer size of a player nicknamed “The Terminator”.

His rookie cards helped to shift boxes throughout the season. The striker has done his part by scoring an astonishing 55 goals in 56 Bundesliga appearances at the current time of writing.

He still plays for Dortmund, but a big money move surely beckons. Even the base card is a decent option.

Parallels: Copper #/99, Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

3. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Archival Auto Giovanni Reyna RC #AAEH (eBay)

Reyna scrapes into the top three by way of his Archival Auto.

As with Haaland, you’ll be banking on his continued ability to perform over the next decade. In terms of talent, here’s what ‘The Terminator’ thinks about his teammate;

“I called him ‘the American dream’ before,” Haaland said. “He’s 17 years old, and what he’s doing on the pitch today is amazing. He has a huge future in front of him.”

We agree with the assessment, so you can’t go wrong with a rare rookie auto from a popular collection.

Parallels: Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

2. 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UCL Erling Haaland Archival Auto RC #AAGR (eBay)

Erling Haaland is back again, found in the ever popular Archival Auto subset. As with Reyna, his rookie auto is one of the biggest hits you could find, and he’s wearing Dortmund’s black and yellow.

If Haaland earns a move to the likes of Real Madrid, he’ll have a real opportunity to become the most famous striker in world football.

Of course, the expectation placed on his shoulders is reflected in the asking price for his rarest cards.

Parallels: Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald 1/1

1. 2019-20 Topps Museum Autograph Relics Erling Haaland RC #MAR-EH (eBay)

Okay. We know that this card is actually found in 2019-20 Topps Museum Collection Bundesliga, but they’re practically the same in terms of design and features. (For example, check out the familiar edges and the border.)

The Bundesliga Museum Collection was released in November 2020.

Look no further if you’re willing to spend big bucks on a Haaland rookie patch auto, which also happens to be one of his most popular cards overall.

Parallels: Sapphire #/75, Gold #/50, Ruby #/25, Emerald Patch 1/1

2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UEFA Champions League: Hobby Boxes (Buy on eBay)

Each eight-card Hobby box comes with one autograph, one autograph relic, one relic and one base parallel. Each box has one parallel card that can be a Copper (#/99), Sapphire (#/75), Gold (#/50), Ruby (#/25) or Emerald (1/1) version.

Of course, the majority of boxes have been opened in the meantime, so the few sealed editions that are still available tend to sell for a lot of money. You’ll find unopened copies on eBay.

2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UEFA Champions League: Buyers Guide

We’ve put together a brief guide if you’re interested in the current market for the best 2029-20 Topps Museum cards.

Anything from the base set is generally decent, as the collection focuses on the best that the UCL has to offer. Think Ronaldo, Mbappe, Neymar, there are many players who failed to make the list, but could make for a decent investment piece at the right price.

I’d go for whatever Haaland card fits your budget, as he really does look like he could be the future of the sport. Reyna is also a decent choice, and should be more affordable than his Dortmund teammate.

2019-20 Topps Museum Collection UEFA Champions League: Buying/Selling Advice

Despite the high price tag, the box looks to have been a success in hindsight, and one of the better selections from the 2019/20 season.
