Inception UCC Sealed Box

Our UEFA Club Completions Inception 2023 review looks at what to expect, as we managed to get our hands on a box directly from Topps UK. Here’s what we packed from the popular set.

The 2022/23 UEFA Club Competitions Inception set is a highlight for soccer card fans, with some of the most valuable hits potentially found inside. As the name implies, it focuses on the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League, and UEFA Women’s Champions League competitions.

Topps says:

“Look out for the biggest stars in European football, with ‘First XI’, ‘Standout Performance’ and ‘Star Quality’ cards. Plus the hottest young talent with ‘Succession’ and ‘Emerging Stars’. Also included are ‘Legend’ cards highlighting some of the best players from past UEFA club competitions.”

We’ve ripped a box to give you a better idea of what to expect from the high-end release.

UEFA Club Competitions Inception 2023: Key Stats

The 2023 UCC Inception set was sold via an EQL raffle, and we were lucky enough to snag a box. Here are key stats and info for the latest 2022/23 UCC Inception collection:

  • Configuration: 7 cards per box, including one autograph card and two numbered parallel cards
  • Autograph variations from each subset are available, plus ‘Short-Print’ autos numbered to 1, 5, 10
  • RRP: £125 – I’ve seen it selling for twice as much on resale sites like eBay
  • Now features Silver Signing on card autographs
  • Contains Autographs, Dual Autographs, Dual Autograph Books, Autograph Relics, and Dual Auto Relic Books
  • Features some of the best players in the world to feature in European competitions
  • Base parallels: Rainbow #/150, Green #/99, Blue #/49, Purple #/25, Red #/10, Orange #/5, Gold 1/1

UEFA Club Competitions Inception 2023: Best Cards

The ‘best’ cards from the set have to be the autos, especially if you’re looking for the most valuable 2022/23 UCC Inception cards to collect.

  1. 2022/23 UEFA Club Competitions Inception Autos (eBay)

The auto set contains massive hits like Lionel Messi and Pedri, along with high-end dual patch autos. These feature:

  • Erling Haaland / Kevin De Bruyne
  • Ilias Akhomach / Pablo Torre
  • Neymar Jr / Lionel Messi
  • Pedri / Ansu Fati
  • Vinicius Jr / Karim Benzema

The auto checklist is fairly large, but there is a chance to find a variety of major hits. Inception cards are printed on thick stock, befitting their high-end status within the hobby. Expect to pay more compared to other sets released this season.

  1. 2022/23 UEFA Club Competitions Inception Parallels (eBay)

Alternatively, each box contains two numbered parallels. Once again, the checklist features big names like Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, and Ronaldo. It’s a great place to start if the autographs are too expensive, and copies are beginning to make their way onto sites like eBay.

UEFA Club Competitions Inception 2023: What we packed

I’m pretty pleased with what we packed, with a low-numbered red Hristo Stoichkov parallel, and a Stefan Bajcetic RC auto, numbered to 25. For once, the cards are worth more than the box itself, and I’m tempted to send a couple off for grading in the long run. Resale prices are currently pretty high, but the box did cause Topps UK to crash when it was first released. In other words, demand is high.

UEFA Club Competitions Inception 2023 Review: Final Thoughts

It’s a roll of the dice, as is the case with any modern set. With only seven cards in every box, there is a good chance that you’ll be disappointed given the large number of base autos that aren’t worth much. However, it’s one of the most popular sets in the calendar, with a design that makes it instantly recognizable. If you’re tempted by a UEFA Club Competitions Inception 2023 box, you could do far worse.
