Having just written about Palkia, it makes sense to take a look at the best Dialga Pokémon cards to collect. Are there any major differences between the rare duo?

Dialga is one of the more important Gen IV Pokémon, as a legendary Steel/Dragon-type that was chosen as the mascot for Pokémon Diamond. It doesn’t evolve, and its name was chosen to match the game (Diamond/Dialga).

We’ve come up with a list with five of the best Dialga Pokémon cards to collect.

The Best Dialga Cards

We used a combination of rarity, the year of release, popularity, and values to come up with the list.

5. 2022 Astral Radiance Alternate Full Art Origin Forme Dialga V #177 (eBay)

2022 Astral Radiance is where we’ll begin. One of the more popular sets from last year, the first card to make the list features Dialga in its Origin Forme. As for a description:

“This is the true appearance of Dialga, the Legendary Pokémon that is said to control time. Dialga has the power to warp, destroy, and create time itself. The flow of time is said to be in constant flux in the world where Origin Forme Dialga resides, always moving in different directions and different speeds.”

The Special Full Art card features artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita.

The Palkia & Dialga Legend Holo is split into two halves, making up one large image featuring both Pokémon. Check out the top half above. 150 HP was massive at the time, representing their total combined power.

This card can be found in the 2010 Triumphant expansion, and there’s a Japanese Clash at the Summit version. A jumbo Promo version is included in the Clash of Legends Box, released back in November 2010.

3. 2008 Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Majestic Dawn Dialga #4 (eBay)

What about a crisp Holo from 2008 Pokémon Diamond and Pearl? The level 63 Dialga card has a traditional design, showing simple artwork of the legendary Pokémon. However, there are only four PSA 10 copies, making it one of the toughest cards to locate in pristine condition. It sold for over $1,000 in November 2022:

1. 2008 Pokemon Autumn Battle Road Championship Arena (eBay)

As with Palkia, the top spot for Dialga Pokémon cards goes to the 2006 Autumn Battle Road Championship Arena Stadium prize card.

One of the famous Nintendo Black Star Promos, it was awarded to participants of the Battle Road Stadium event, for anyone who won at the fourth Stage.

Former Pokémon card manufacturers Wizards of the Coast (WotC) produced various exclusive cards like this for promotional events over the years. They can be identified thanks to a black star with the word “PROMO” written where the expansion symbol would normally be found. They came to be known as the ‘Black Star Promos’.

As you may have guessed, this card focusing on Palkia and Dialga is a major hit with collectors. It features the legendary Pokémon with an arena backdrop.

Dialga Pokemon Cards: Final Thoughts

An important legendary Pokémon in its own right, Dialga is featured on a number of valuable cards released over the past 15 years. It’s hard to think of many better options from Gen IV, while cards like the 2006 Autumn Battle Road are some of the rarest within the hobby.

There are also numerous more affordable Dialga Pokémon cards that we’ve mentioned above.
