The latest in a line of cheap themed sets from Topps, the Borussia Dortmund Team Set 21/22 was released in time for Christmas 2022. We’ve taken the opportunity to grab a box for the purposes of this review.

The Borussia Dortmund Team Set 21/22 is available via the Topps UK website for a wallet-friendly price of £19.99. It’s also available in Europe and the United States.

Boasting a sole parallel, and a small chance to find autographs and memorabilia, it’s a decent entry-level set for the hobby.

Borussia Dortmund Team Set 21/22: Autograph checklist

The autograph checklist is one of the strongest when looking at individual soccer teams. Dortmund has a vast array of talent on display, and Topps has made the majority commit their signature to cardboard:

AC-GK Gregor Kobel

AC-TM Thomas Meunier

AC-MM Mateu Morey Bauzá

AC-MH Mats Hummels

AC-DZ Dan-Axel Zagadou

AC-RG Raphaël Guerreiro

AC-MA Manuel Akanji

AC-MD Mahmoud Dahoud

AC-JB Jude Bellingham

AC-MRE Marco Reus

AC-JBR Julian Brandt

AC-EC Emre Can

AC-AW Axel Witsel

AC-GR Giovanni Reyna

AC-AK Ansgar Knauff

AC-DM Donyell Malen

AC-YM Youssoufa Moukoko

AC-EH Erling Haaland

AC-MP Marin Pongračić

AC-ST Steffen Tigges

The likes of Haaland, Bellingham, and Reyna are major hits.

Borussia Dortmund Team Set 21/22: Best Cards

Without a doubt, you’ll be looking for one of the rarer parallels, an autograph, or a patch.

Odds of one in ten aren’t the greatest for a signature, but it’s not the worst considering the low price for boxes. The match-worn Bellingham/Moukoko relics are found in every 20 boxes. Rarer Haaland/Reyna parallels are also going to be fairly valuable, with lots of potential buyers. It’s a bit of a gamble, but the same is true with every box within the hobby.

We got ‘Das Wunder Von Malaga’, in a parallel limited to 70 copies. It’s a good reminder, you’re more likely to pack a card worth hardly anything, but it’s still a fun rip for the asking price. You’ll be able to see the Dortmund Team set parallel in the image above.

Borussia Dortmund Team Set 21/22 Review: Summary

Another themed set produced to milk Erling Haaland’s time at Dortmund, remember that it was released at the midway point in the 2022/23 season, long after the player had signed with Manchester City.

It’s a cheap entry point if you’re looking for numbered parallels, while there are also players like Bellingham, Reyna, and Moukoko in a star studded checklist.

However, you’re more likely to get a parallel that is effectively worthless, like I did. It’s still a decent stocking filler, even if the product appears to have been printed in droves.

It might be worth grabbing a box or two, but there are better options if you plan to spend serious money.
